The Underground River (Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park - PPSRNP)was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, voted as a New7Wonders of Nature in 2012 and became a Ramsar Wetland Site in 2012. It is one of the world’s most impressive cave systems, featuring spectacular limestone karst landscapes, pristine natural beauty, and intact old-growth forests and distinctive wildlife.
The property, comprising an area of approximately 22,202 ha, contains an 8.2km long underground river. The river and caves are home to complex eco-system that has adapted to living underground here over hundreds of years. Many of the animals in the caves are found only here, including certain types of giant spiders, crabs, fish and snakes, although bats and swallows are likely to be the only ones you’ll see. Tour cost ranges from Php 1500 for group tours up to Php 6000 for private tours.

How to get there
From Puerto Princesa City, the PPSRNP is accessible by land via a 76 km concrete road. It is served by public utility jeep and air-conditioned shuttle vans. It takes around one and a half hours of travel from the City to Sabang. From Sabang Wharf, you will take a 20-minute boat ride to the Underground River National Park. Then a guided paddle boat in the Underground River (approximately 45-60 minutes).
